What is a sundog?

It's a solar phenomenon!  Just like Sundog Solar Store :)

A sundog is an atmospheric event that results from the sun hitting ice crystals in the upper atmosphere.  This can cause a ring around the sun or bright lights near the sun.  An example of a sundog can be seen in the header image of our site.
